Traditional Pub in Edge Village: Local Area
Not only does the local area provide us with some wonderful produce but it also provides you with some wonderful things to do and see, we are located in the small village of Edge which is half way between Stroud and Gloucester, we over look the wonderful Painswick Valley and the village of Painswick itself which provides a wonderful view to enjoy a hearty home cooked meal to.
There is over 100 listed building in the village which is a total conservation area. Edge has a very rich history which was particularly colourful during the period of the civil war in which the round heads took refuge in the parish church of St. Mary, the church itself dates back to 11th century and is a wonderful place to see while you are in the area.
The Edgemoor Inn actually lies half way along the Cotswold Way, this path way stretches from Chipping Campden in the north to the city of Bath in the south, the trail is 100 miles long and runs for most of the Cotswold escarpment. It is often said that the Cotswold is the most essentially English region of the country with it yellow stone buildings throughout all of the villages it is really easy to see why.
The local area is lovely to have a walk in and you can walk off your lovingly prepared meal from The Edgemoor Inn or you are more than welcome to take a seat on our patio with a local ale and enjoy the beautiful view instead.
